Village Kitchen is excited to launch our new winter campaign, Keeping Tummies Toasty!
We’re working hard to provide more Meals on Wheels to more seniors this winter, to support more people who might be socially isolated or lonely and in need of hearty, nutritious food that is home cooked in their community and delivered for free. Many people might not have connections through family and friends over the cold, winter months and we’re looking to connect them with their peers to build supportive networks. We’ll do that through introducing people to our Lunch Club.
Launched in the current issue of Love Magazine, our Founding Director and CEO, Alexandra Ostroumoff-Croucher said:
“Keeping Tummies Toasty is about reaching more people in need this winter and getting the message out there. Our meals have a hugely positive impact of nutrition and health, they’re packed full of vegetables and protein and they’re better than anything you can buy in a supermarket.
“We are so excited to spoilt our customers with a genuine, home-cooked experience this Christmas. The festive period can be hard for those living alone, separated from family or bereaved. We take pride in connecting them with one of our team and giving them a real taste of Christmas.
At Village Kitchen, we recognise that the cost-of-living crisis continues to have a negative impact on seniors, which is why services like our Meals on Wheels are a real lifeline for people. We try to set ourselves apart from other food delivery services by making it entirely person-centred in our approach. Our delivery drivers take time to get to know people, by staying to chat, asking if they need any help and performing informal wellness checks.
Alexandra said: “We are regularly in touch with seniors who are struggling financially and we endeavour to keep everything competitive and accessible. We know there are soaring costs, so we offer reduced priced meals if people are experiencing hardship.”
We are running Keeping Tummies Toasty throughout winter into the early months of 2024. We are in this together and we are here to help you. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please reach out to us using the phone number or contact form at the bottom of this page.
We will be sending Christmas dinners through our Meals on Wheels on 22nd December.
We can also take money donations! You can donate here on our website to help us support more people to access good, hearty and nutritious food while staying connected and remaining active in their community.
